A Deep Dive into the European Energy Transition #3 – Energy Storage

Description

The European renewables market is on the rise. EUPD Research estimates that the EU will install +150 GW of new PV over the course of 2024 and 2025. Based on data from their Global Energy Transition Matrix 2024©, Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland and the Netherlands are the 5 leading EU-27 PV markets by the end of 2023. The top three European markets alone formed 47% of all newly installed PV systems in 2023. These markets also have ambitious plans to further their PV deployments via the 2030 targets; Germany, Spain and Italy have a combined target of ~371 of cumulative PV by the end of the decade. This translates into 219 GW of new PV systems that needs to be installed in only the top three European markets. As a leading European PV market, Germany installed 14.9 GW of PV last year. In only Q1-2024 Germany installed ~11 million new PV panels (~4 GW of new PV systems). According to EUPD Research this Q1-PV performance as well as the Solar Package 1 coming into full force is a solid indicator that the country is bound to pass its last year PV installation record.

The smarter E Europe 2024, Europe’s Largest Alliance of Exhibitions for the Energy Industry, remains a place for members of this dynamic, international industry to exchange know-how and foster connections. This year, it united the four parallel exhibitions and conferences – Intersolar, ees, Power2Drive and EM-Power – to enable its attendees to have a well rounded experience and provide in-depth looks at the different sectors.

Were you unable to attend, or want to relive it from the comfort of your own home or office? We brought back exclusive insights and impressions from the three-day-event in Munich for you! Look forward to insights from Sven Albersmeier-Braun, who gave an interview and spoke at the ees Forum.
