Solar & Storage DigiCon Live Day: Unlocking the Full Solar & Energy Storage Potential in North America

Canada, the United States of America and Mexico bear some of the world’s largest potentials for renewable energy generation with large open land areas, water and biomass resources as well as long coastal lines. The continent is also home to a highly skilled workforce, vibrant entrepreneurial spirit and plentiful financing opportunities – the best preconditions for a full transition to 100% renewable energy generation.

In recent years, the North American solar industry has been gaining momentum with political incentives attracting investments, technological advancements and a rapidly growing job market and service industry.

Today, solar power is more affordable, accessible, and prevalent in North America than ever before with a total installed capacity of 81.4 GW in the U.S. alone (Q1 2020)[1].

Despite impressive progress, significant challenges remain before solar can succeed conventional energy sources or large-scale, centralized power generation; While material costs are decreasing, market barriers, service offerings and grid integration challenges continue to hold back greater deployment.

Chuck is the Director of Marketing for Energy Storage, North America for Socomec. He has twelve years of experience in the renewable energy sector, with the past five years focusing on energy storage. He worked at Growing Energy Labs, Inc., GELI for two years, focusing on energy management software. The past three years he has been with Socomec working on their next generation of energy storage products.

Jon La Follett leads the Energy System Integration & Storage (ESIS) research team in the Shell New Energies Research & Technology department. The ESIS team focuses on integration technologies that enable system components like solar, batteries, flexible loads such as EVs, and conventional generators to provide services to the power grid and value to the component owners.

Mr. Just has founded and operated businesses for over 30 years. He was Founder and President of Dianet Communications, a company that built multiple, large-scale, complex Distributed Antenna System (“DAS”) projects. He negotiated multiple large financings, including a $200 million DAS network in the New York City Subway system through a subsidiary, Transit Wireless.

Rob Soulier

As the Director of the Axsus division, Robert is responsible for overseeing all areas of the organization. Robert created Magna’s most successful Canadian solar division in 2011, leveraging one of Magna’s core competencies in manufacturing steel components. After four years with Magna’s solar division, he took an opportunity with a private solar development and EPC organization as Director of Products. Robert returned to Magna in 2019 to run Axsus.

Joining the Trina Solar team in 2018, Adam Jordan brings nearly 15 years of solar industry experience to lead the new C&I Solutions business unit. From humble solar beginnings as an installer, Adam has held a number of installation and sales management positions with EPC solar companies in New York State where he resides with his family.
